#3 - Ricotta Stracinari, Braised Duck Leg, and Smoked Scamorza at Spasso

I recently posted all about my dining experience at Spasso.  The food was really fantastic.  My dish in particular just blew me away.

I had the Ricotta Stracinari, Braised Duck Leg, and Smoked Scamorza.  I am not sure why I was so drawn to it, not really knowing what kind of pasta Stracinari is and not really knowing what kind of cheese Scamorza resembles.  But when I narrowed it down to 2 options, the server said the Stracinari was great, so I dove in.

I did not take a picture, but I found one online: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chekmarkeats/6054671972/.  If you read my Agnolotti post, you know my feelings on pillows of pasta.  This pasta was simply outrageous.  The pasta itself was delicious, but with the duck leg and provolone like cheese, the dish was sensational.  With each bite, I could not even really tell what I was eating - I just knew it was great and I wanted to keep eating more.  Eater even named it one of 12 Pasta Dishes to try this year.

As soon as I left Spasso, I made a note to return shortly, sit at the bar, and eat more pasta.  The entire dining experience at Spasso was great, and I would go back for it, but I would even just go back to eat the pasta.  It is the kind of menu that you struggle to decide between trying something new or ordering your favorite pasta dish each time.

For Top Chef fans, Chef Ty-lor Boring on the new Top Chef: Texas was the former sous chef at Spasso.

Have a delicious day!
