Back at the Shack

I went to the Shake Shack on Friday for the fourth time in two years.  I won't give you the full blown review, since there is an abundance of information on the Shake Shack.  The summary is that the burger is delicious, the fries are crunchy, and the concrete is the most heavenly form of chocolate and chunks and all sorts of dairy goodness.
I wanted to share with you some observations and updates from this past trip:
1.  The burgers seem thicker and juicier. I remember the patty being a little compact, but the burger I had on Friday definitely had more meat.  That simply means that there was more burger goodness.
2.  A bird flew into my friend's burger.  The Shake Shack at Madison Square Park is a bird hot spot.  Sad that her burger had been hit by a bird, my friend simply requested another, and received it without additional charge.  Apparently, birds flying into burgers is pretty common.
3.  As you may know from articles and blogs, Shake Shacks are popping up left and right.  One opened in the Theater District on 43rd and 8th, and one just opened on the Upper East Side.  These two new Shake Shacks are in addition to the UWS and Citi Field Shake Shacks, and of course, Madison Square Park.  There is also one in Miami Florida, Saratoga Springs NY, and one is supposed to open in Washington D.C.  What are your thoughts on Shake Shack blowing up?  Do you think if it continue at this rate, it can become the East Coast In N' Out Burger?  Will the lines get shorter?
I think my next burger stop will have to be Five Guys.  They were just talking about it on The Today Show, and I hear it is great!
Have a delicious day!

  1. I have been to a couple of different 5 Guys and while the burgers are good, it is the fries that keep me going back. They are absolutely delicious and the portions are out of control.

  2. OOOO good fries! I can't wait. I love a place that has the triple threat - great fries, great burgers, and great shakes too! At the Corner Bistro, burgers are great, but fries are boring and there are no shakes.
